Hot Air Balloon Flight over the Krkonoše Mountains

Hot Air Balloon Flight over the Krkonoše Mountains – The Highest Czech Peaks from a Rare Perspective. An adventure you will never forget.

Hot Air Balloon Flight in the Krkonoše Mountains

The Krkonoše Mountains offer a completely different perspective from the air than from hiking trails.
In ideal weather conditions, you may float above Sněžka, Luční bouda, Obří důl, or along the mountain ridges with views stretching all the way to the Jizera Mountains and into Poland.

A balloon flight over the Krkonoše is part of our expedition flight portfolio, requiring excellent meteorological conditions, an experienced pilot and thorough preparation.
A hot air balloon cannot be “steered” over the mountains — everything depends on wind direction and strength, which is why these flights are planned with maximum care.

Take-off usually takes place from the foothills, for example near Trutnov, Vrchlabí or Jilemnice, from where the wind may carry the balloon across the main Krkonoše ridge.
Landing often takes place in Poland, on the opposite side of the mountains.
The result is a silent crossing above the highest peaks of the Czech Republic — one of the most exceptional ballooning experiences possible.

Important Information About Reservations

We operate expedition flights only if the minimum capacity of 5 passengers is reached.
At the moment, for the winter season 2025/2026, 2 out of 5 seats are reserved.

If you are interested in joining the planned flight, we recommend contacting us as soon as possible.
If the basket does not reach full capacity, we will extend the validity of your tickets to the next season or agree on an alternative solution.

Another option is a private flight, where only you and the pilot fly in the basket.
The advantage of this option is that we do not need to wait for additional participants and can use the first suitable weather window for the mountain crossing.

Typical Route of the Expedition Flight Across the Krkonoše Mountains

Under ideal conditions, we take off from the Vrchlabí area or its immediate surroundings.
During the approximately 60 to 120-minute flight, the balloon gradually ascends above the main ridge of the Krkonoše Mountains, opening up panoramic views of the entire range, including Sněžka, the highest mountain in the Czech Republic.

Most often, we fly northeast across the ridges into Poland, where we safely land in open countryside near towns such as Lubawka or Kamienna Góra.
The route is always planned according to the wind direction to ensure both the most beautiful views and a safe mountain crossing.

Take-off Locations in the Krkonoše Mountains

The exact take-off location is selected individually based on the current weather forecast and flight conditions.

How the Expedition Flight Across the Krkonoše Works

The flight begins with the preparation of the balloon at a take-off meadow chosen according to the wind direction.
This is followed by a safety briefing and take-off, as the balloon gently lifts you above the foothills of the mountains.

The goal is a direct crossing of the main Krkonoše ridge, ideally including Sněžka itself.
The flight lasts approximately 60 to 120 minutes, depending on current conditions.
In an ideal scenario, you will see Sněžka, Labský důl, Černá hora, Rýchory and the Jizera Valley during the flight.

Each flight is unique — the route is determined entirely by the wind and weather conditions on that day.

After landing, you will enjoy the traditional first-flight baptism, a celebratory toast and receive a commemorative certificate.
Our team will then transport you back to the meeting point or another agreed location.
The entire programme, including preparation and transfers, typically takes 3 to 5 hours.
