Health Requirements for Balloon Flights

Make sure you are physically ready to enjoy your hot air balloon experience.

To ensure maximum safety and a comfortable experience for every passenger, it is essential that all participants are physically able to take part. This includes:

  • The ability to safely climb over the basket edge, which is approximately 1.1 meters high
  • The ability to stand unassisted (without support or seating) for at least one hour
  • The ability to slightly bend your knees (squat position) for a safe landing procedure
  • The ability to walk at least 100 meters on uneven ground to reach the support vehicle
  • Full understanding and compliance with the pilot’s instructions during the flight, especially in the event of an emergency

Passengers excluded from transport

  • Unfortunately, the following passengers cannot take part in a balloon flight:
  • Persons who require mobility aids (wheelchairs, crutches, walking sticks, frames, etc.)
  • Persons who have undergone knee, hip, spine, or shoulder surgery – we recommend waiting at least one year after surgery and consulting your doctor before flying
  • Persons with limited mobility (knees, hips, spine)
  • Pregnant women, as landing may involve a harder impact
  • Persons with heart disease, circulatory problems, lung conditions, or musculoskeletal disorders without prior consultation with their doctor

Important notice

Unfortunately, FlyBalloon s.r.o. is not technically equipped to accommodate passengers using wheelchairs.

Please note that during a hot air balloon flight, both the time and place of landing are unpredictable, which can limit the ability of emergency services to access the site quickly if needed.

Children on board can fly from the age of 7 years and a minimum height of 120 cm (so they can see over the basket edge). Children under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. For safety reasons, it is not permitted to hold a child during the flight or to provide a step stool inside the basket.

Under Czech Civil Aviation Law, the pilot is responsible for the safety of all passengers. The final decision regarding a passenger’s fitness to fly rests with the pilot. If, at the launch site, the pilot determines that a passenger’s condition contradicts the requirements above, the ticket is forfeited without refund. The pilot also reserves the right to exclude passengers under the influence of alcohol or drugs — in such cases, the ticket is likewise forfeited.

If your health condition changes between booking and the flight date, you must inform FlyBalloon s.r.o. immediately.
We will help resolve the situation — either through financial compensation or by transferring the ticket to another person.

If no health limitations are reported, FlyBalloon s.r.o. assumes that none exist and cannot be held responsible for any resulting health complications, injuries, or worsening of condition.

If you have any doubts about your suitability, please contact our customer service — we’ll be happy to advise you individually.
