Expedition Hot Air Balloon Flights in the Alps
An expedition above the mountains. Silence, altitude and freedom.
Hot Air Balloon Flight in the Alps – A Unique View of Alpine Giants
Flying in a hot air balloon over the Alps ranks among the most extraordinary aerial experiences you can have.
Snow-covered peaks, deep valleys and sharp ridgelines seen from above create an atmosphere unlike any other flight.
This is not a standard scenic ride — it is an expedition flight, designed for more experienced passengers or those seeking a truly powerful adventure.
Our Alpine flights are regularly operated as part of the prestigious Filzmoos Balloon Week (Filzmoos Ballon Woche), one of the most important ballooning events in Europe.
In 2026, the event will take place from January 11th to 18th, offering ideal conditions for expedition flights among the Alpine peaks.
A balloon crossing of the Alps requires precise planning, perfect meteorological conditions and an experienced pilot — which is why it is part of our exclusive expedition flight portfolio.
Your reward is unforgettable views, mountain silence and the rare feeling of floating above the world.
Important Information About Reservations
The expedition flight is operated only if the minimum capacity of 5 passengers is reached.

If the basket does not reach full capacity, we will extend the validity of your tickets to the next season or agree on an alternative option.

One of Our Expedition Flights in the Alps – January 2025
This map shows the real route of one of our winter expedition balloon flights, carried out in January 2025.
We took off from the village of Filzmoos in the Austrian region of Salzburg and, after approximately two hours of flight, landed near Sankt Peter am Kammersberg in Styria.
The flight took place in ideal winter conditions — at altitudes exceeding 3,000 meters, in clean, cold Alpine air.
The total distance covered was over 60 kilometres, crossing well-known Alpine areas such as Schladming and the valley beneath the Dachstein massif.
At an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level, we even reached a speed of 110 km/h.
The flight offered breathtaking views of snow-covered ridges, deep valleys and true Alpine wilderness — an experience that feels completely different from ground travel or cable cars.
